People who have diabetes must eat a balanced, healthy diet. Some foods can help diabetic patients to keep their sugar levels under control.
Though porridge is a carbohydrate, it is a good one as it has high levels of soluble fiber in it. It takes a long time to digest and so won’t increase the blood sugar level quickly. It also helps in reducing weight. Porridge makes you feel fuller all day.
2. Non-starchy vegetables
You should include lots of non-starchy vegetables in your diet, like broccoli, green beans, and spinach. These foods have a high amount of fiber and low carbohydrates.
Many diabetes patients don’t eat strawberries due to the sweetness. But research indicates that a handful of strawberries won’t increase your blood sugar level much. They are better than a biscuit. They have low calories and carbohydrates. They are also rich in fiber and water. So, you will feel fuller for a long time.
4. Lean meats
Meats that have high protein content don’t have much effect on the sugar level. If eaten in healthy portions, then lean cuts of meat are good for diabetic diets.
Salmon has omega-3 fatty acids. Meat has chromium and helps insulin to work properly. So, you should include salmon two to three times in your weekly diet.
You should include these in your diet. Your sugar level will come down, and you will be able to enjoy a healthy and stress-free life, despite having diabetes.
